What is Camp Bluebird? It is a life-changing 3-day retreat for adult cancer patients and cancer survivors. In North Carolina, it is held at a gorgeous setting, Bonclarken in Flat Rock, NC. The accommodations are phenomenal, the volunteers, sponsors, counselors are all so loving and generous. For decades, Camp Bluebird has been impacting adult cancer patients and their families by providing support, laughter, camaraderie and a safe place to be yourself. It is the one place where a cancer patient can deal be around other cancer patients in different places in their journey.
Camp Bluebird’s 3 main sponsors are; Mission Hospitals, AT&T Telephone Pioneers and the American Cancer Society, however, many individuals and companies offer financial, supply, manpower and other support for Camp Bluebird. The sessions are held twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall.
I just returned from May 2008 session of Camp Bluebird after having a wonderful, blessed time!

A special time is the evening bonfire where we can state what we are thankful for and then toss a pinecone into the flames. It is a sweet time. Then, of course, we roast marshmallows. 🙂
We spend time doing crafts. This year, the choices were SO much fun!
