My Year of Jubilee

My Year of Jubilee

Today is my 50th birthday. Not only is this a true miracle of G-d because of the cancer that threatened to take my life not long ago from which the L-rd has healed me, but the 50th year in the Bible is ordained as a year of Jubilee.

What is the year of Jubilee?

In Leviticus 25

10 Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each one of you is to return to his family property and each to his own clan. 11 The fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you; do not sow and do not reap what grows of itself or harvest the untended vines. 12 For it is a jubilee and is to be holy for you; eat only what is taken directly from the fields. 13 ” ‘In this Year of Jubilee everyone is to return to his own property.

In this year, the year of Jubilee, all slaves were freed, all debts were forgiven, land was returned to the original owner and the land was allowed to rest.

Some people mourn their older birthdays. I see my 50th birthday as a milestone. A new place. A new commitment. A time to free all the slaves in bondage and walk in liberty in Messiah Jesus. A time to remember that my life is not my own, but it belongs to the One who paid the price for it.

We blew the shofar signifying the year of Jubilee. Thank you Messiah for preserving me for 50 years so that I may serve You!

Rejoice!
