Shalom Y’all!
I’m writing this on New Year’s Eve – 2008 (December 31, 2007)
What are y’all doing tonight?
Well, we are going CAMPING. Yup, that’s what we’re doing, in the middle of Winter.
Actually, it’s something that I came up with the other day just to have some fun (and if you have “Cabin Fever” it’s a great boredom-buster!).
We are taking our small tent and setting it up down in the basement as if we were camping out. We have a stream marked off, a campsite, sleeping bags, a fire made from red paper, a bear-watching watchdog and all the extras one must have when going camping with the kids.
The family and I made up the menu (as if we were actually going camping);
MENU:
Organic beef hamburgers stuffed w/cheese, grilled and served on whole wheat buns with more cheese
Organic veggie dogs wrapped in whole wheat bread
Wild Alaskan Salmon fillets, grilled
Roasted broccoli, garlic, Parmesan and garbanzo beans
Homemade pizzas (two kinds)
Stuffed Laced Loaf, homemade whole wheat dough of course, stuffed with natural smoked turkey and cheese
Organic chocolate milk and juice (in boxes)
Non-organic and non-real foods S’MORES (OK, you gotta have these!!)
For breakfast the next morning, we’re having Baked Oatmeal with cranberries that I am baking today and bringing with us.
Today we are pretending to hike (from the basement to the 2nd floor and down again) to the campsite and set up our little expedition. We’ll go fishing and pretend to catch the fish and all that fun stuff. Our dog will be with us to protect us from bears. (If you knew our mild-mannered Chloe-dog, you’d laugh at that!! 🙂 )
Esther Ruth is making stars to hang up so we can look at them from the tent! LOL! Tim is making “fire” and we’re going “camping”!
So, that is our New Year’s Eve party….what’s yours?
Here is our “fishing” trip which yielded two lovely, Alaskan salmon!
