Shalom Y’all!
Well, THIS year will be different from other years because of our older ones leaving soon, no family or friends close by, and well, we’re in a different situation.
Soooooo, here’s our plans:
Tonight is Shabbes (Sabbath) and also the last night of Chanukkah. We will have a nice supper (and have a friend over to share with us) and light the candles, play driedle, eat the Chanukkah gelt, talk about the Chanukkah story and how Jesus is glorified in it, and enjoy Him and each other. We will also read a great story about Christians and Jews celebrating called “The Trees of the Dancing Goats.”
Saturday, we will rest, read and bake!
Sunday, Christmas Eve Day, we’ll have a wonderful brunch with French toast made from my Whole Wheat and Honey Challah, a veggie frittata, fruit, granola and yogurt parfaits.
During the day, I’ll make healthy, whole-grain Christmas cookies ncluding gingerbread people and bake cinnamon ornaments for the tree.
For supper, we’ll have nice meal, probably roast chicken and veggies and homemade ice cream.
THEN, at 9PM, we’ll attend the candlelight service at church. On the ay back, we’ll drive around to see all the Christmas lights.
When we get home, we’ll read the Christmas story in Luke Chapter 2, have hot cocoa and eat our cookies AND open ALL our presents!! Yup, everyone votes this year to sleep in on Christmas morning and have hristmas on Christmas Eve!
On Christmas morning, we’ll all sleep in and then for our Christmas meal, we’ll do what all good Jews do on Christmas Day – go out and eat Chinese Food! LOL! We’re having our family Christmas meal at our favorite (non-MSG) Chinese Food buffet, where they cook fresh food for us.
When we get home, I’m sure we’ll rest and enjoy the presents.
Later that evening, we’ll read the Christmas story (Luke Chapter 2) and have a family prayer and Bible time before bed, thanking G-d for sending the best present of all – Yeshua(Jesus!)
May you be blessed this holiday with the peace and love of Messiah Yeshua and know the joy of His salvation personally!
