Today was a laid back day as hubby had to go to town for a doctor’s appointment. I did some kitchen work and some writing while daughter did school and did 2 loads of laundry. I am working on meal planning as our ingredients dwindle. It is pretty exciting in a challenging way and it gives me the impetus to do what I love, creating and revamping recipe my family will enjoys. I am thankful that we have what we have and I know this will be a positive learning experience for all of us, but mostly for me!

Day Six
Beauty / Health
Using my homemade deodorant, I have quite a bit and it goes a long way. I gave the recipe in a previous entry.
I’m using Tooth Suds with Plague Defense for my teeth. I get this from Heritage Essential Oils. When this is gone, I’ll make my own again.
Kitchen
Removed 2 chickens from 2 slow cookers and let meat cool.
Removed chicken meat (we call it “Momma’s Pickin’ Chickin'”, not to be confused with the guitar term of Chickin’ Pickin’)
Placed chicken bones back in the 2 slow cookers, added spices and water to make stock. I’ll cook it overnight.
Removed dehydrated chili from dehydrator, placed in jars and vacuum sealed jars
Made cashew milk
Roasted frozen broccoli
Made dairy-free, gluten-free bechamel sauce with raw organic coconut aminos
Menu
Breakfast (late)
Bagels, gluten-free muffins, cashew cocoa
Supper
Saucy chicken, roasted broccoli and oven-roasted curly fries (Recipe here)
Snack
Gluten-free muffins, cashew milk, apple juice
Thoughts
Day Six and we’re doing pretty well, although as I wrote yesterday, we are experiencing changes as our perishables and items we replenish often are gone since I cannot replace them. The good thing for me is that this is helping me to be more creative in what I make and what I use. I believe I’ve been in somewhat of a food rut, easy, comfortable food and too much reliance on the things we have buy often, not really using much of the food storage (a little yes, as we “rotate” our stores, but not using it heavily). Meal planning is essential now, not optional.
