Healthy Hack: Non-stick non-spray

Food sticking to pans? Definitely not fun. There are some excellent reusable solutions such as parchment paper and silicone baking mats. However, sometimes, you need to “grease” the pan before baking and while butter and oil work, they sometimes do not release the food completely, causing tender baked goods to come out in pieces. If you’ve ever left some of your cake in the cake pan when flipping the cake out onto a plate, you’ll wish you had used something else.

Some people use non-stick sprays, but these can contain preservatives, chemicals and propellants. In addition, for those with soy allergies or choosing to avoid GMO-soy, most of these sprays contain soy lecithin.

Instead of toxic non-stick sprays, I use a mixture of extra virgin olive oil and organic sunflower lecithin.

I use 3/4 part olive oil to 1/4 part lecithin in a glass bottle with a lid, and shake it well to mix the oil and lecithin. I store mine at room temperature in a cool, dark and dry place (my pantry) and shake it up lightly before each use. The release power is amazing, it is contains no soy, no propellants, no chemicals, nothing but beneficial ingredients that work as the best non-stick liquid around.

Give it a try!

Conclusion: Highly recommended
